About Me

My Story

Welcome! My name is Taylor Long, an instructional designer living in Central Kentucky. I am a new mother, a wife, and dog mom.

I originally received my B.S. in Elementary Education from Eastern Kentucky University. I am working on my M.S. in Instructional Design from EKU as well. While I have not held positions specifically for instructional design, I have plenty of experience planning instruction for K-12 learners as well as adults.

My interest for instructional design came from the year of COVID when teachers were essentially forced to convert content into digital formats to present to young learners. My program has shared some wonderful tools and given me great opportunities to work with professors and entities on campus to create and design instruction and trainings. As terrible as COVID was, I found a unique love for preparing digital content for learners. I found that I had a unique eye for presenting information in engaging formats.

As an apprentice in instructional design, my aspiration is to consistently challenge myself to craft learning activities that are both meaningful and engaging. My goal is to ensure that all content I create adheres to accessibility standards such as WCAG 2.3, ADA, and Quality Matters, making learning accessible to every learner. Ensuring inclusivity and relevance in learning experiences is of utmost importance to me.                Drawing from my background in Elementary Education, I recognize the significance of culturally sensitive assessments and problem-based learning approaches. Beyond accessibility, I firmly believe in the necessity of designing assessments that are relevant and authentic for diverse learners. These principles are integral to my approach to any project I undertake.
